Lambiotte
& Cie S.A. are a medium sized public family company. The offices and commercial
department are located in Brussels - Belgium, and the plant, sawmill and laboratories
are in Marbehan, Province of Luxemburg - Belgium. Since 1850, the company has
evolved over five generations. In 1850, the development of the company begins
with forestry, sawmill and commercialization of railway sleepers.
Around 1890, Lambiotte is using sawmill waste for the carbonization of wood
and in 1901, for the first time uses carbonization derivatives, gas and tars
for diverse chemical activities (first formaldehyde unit in 1905).
Until 1965, development on the one hand
in the technical field by perfecting the vertical continuous carbonization retorts,
and on the other hand geographically in 1939 (several plants are started in
France), in spite of the difficult times during the two World Wars. In 1970,
Lambiotte developes its own production process for formaldehyde and methylal.
The production of elcoforms and dioxolane
follows around 1980. Since 1992, the company is ISO 9002 certified.
Continued research on new products has made it possible to elaborate other acetals
and to invest in new acetal production units. At present, there are three key
activities : the sawmill, the carbonization plant, the chemical plant.
